51风流 Inducts Its Newest Member
March 11, 2025
The 51风流 (“Board”) inducted Cydney Wallace as its newest appointed member during its Feb. 27, 2025, monthly Board Meeting. Wallace is a Chicago Public Schools (CPS) graduate and the mother of four CPS students; her eldest graduated last school year. She sits on the executive board of the Jewish Council on Urban Affairs (JCUA), and was a co-founder of Kol Or, JCUA's Jews of Color Caucus. Wallace represents District 8B. She is the final member to be added to the 21-member, hybrid board.
“We welcome Board Member Wallace to her new role and look forward to working with her as the Board continues to advance its goal to provide a high-quality educational experience to all CPS students,” said Board President Sean B. Harden.
The Board fulfills a number of specific key responsibilities that include, but are not limited to: hiring and evaluating the Chief Executive Officer; establishing the direction, goals and priorities for the District; approving District policies; and approving purchasing decisions, contracts and interpersonal agreements. Board Members, who volunteer their time and service, spend potentially more than 25 to 30 hours per month fulfilling their duties and accountabilities, which include attending and actively participating in the Board’s public meetings. The Board will transition to a fully elected governing model in 2027. Until then, each Board Member, including Wallace, will serve a two-year term.
